Dan Hardy vs. Mike Swick confirmed for UFC 105

So you all remember the welterweight fight that everyone grabbed a knife, chopped off the edge of their seat, attached to their rear and spent $54.95 to watch? Well I remember, I was in the middle of Wendy’s when the UFC announced it. Mike Swick vs. Martin Kampmann scheduled for UFC 103 before they even have a main event lined up. It was slated as the fight to see who would be the number one contender for George ‘I drank so much that I forgot my whole name‘ St. Pierre. Everything was good, people were celebrating in the streets and then Swick had to drop out because of some freakish injury. Word spread around the world and when it traveled across the ocean and hit Europe, the UK was like ‘Hold up, we got a guy that can take his place’. Dude’s name was Semtex and he blew up on Martin Kampmann at UFC scoring a first round TKO. Everyone was beyond shocked, Paul Daley just shrugged and grabbed a beer afterward and the welterweight marathon to GSP got a little complicated. People thought it was too early to give Paul Daley a shot at the title even though he just stunned the world in his UFC debut. So Dana White had to go back to his UFC drawing board and create something that would exceed everyone’s overly inflated expectations.

After locking himself in his lab the entire weekend, dude emerged with a bio-chemical mixture that would be sure to get everyone to reach in their pockets (or steal their mother’s credit card number) and drop even more loot. Dan Hardy vs. Mike Swick at UFC 105. It’s official and the winner of the bout will win the sweepstakes at a welterweight title shot against GSP. Just a month ago, we interviewed Dan Hardy and he told us that he felt he needed to get a few more fights under his belt before he could look at a title shot. Well ‘a few’ just became ‘one’ over the course of a short weekend (thank you Fabricio Werdum for making me a little money at ADCC Sunday morning). Dan Hardy vs. Mike Swick at UFC 105, be there or be…equiangular. [Source]
