Cub Swanson KOs Billy Quarantillo with Brutal Right Hand – UFC Tampa Results (Highlights)

Helping to close out the promotion’s 2024 with a bang, Cub Swanson made his 25th walk to the Octagon for a clash with the always-entertaining Billy Quarantillo.

Swanson and Quarantillo co-headlined UFC Tampa on Saturday night inside Amalie Arena. Swanson entered the bout going 3-3 in his last six, alternating wins and losses. Quarantillo found himself in a similar position going into fight night, going 2-2 in his last four. Both fighters walked into the event looking to climb back into the win column after coming up short in their last outings.

Round 1

Quarantillo opens the round with a high kick. They trade a couple of calf kicks before Swanson gets his hands going with a nice combination. Quarantillo connected with a counter left as Swanson blitzed him. Swanson lunges in with a straight right before going high with a head kick of his own. Swanson lands a booming right and it’s clear that Swanson has the speed advantage halfway through the round.

Quarantillo lands a nice left and Swanson comes right back as the leather is starting to fly. Quarantillo throws a kick up the middle and punches his way inside, forcing Swanson on his back foot. Swanson jabs to the body and lands a solid straight left. Quarantillo lands a leg kick and Swanson gives him one right back. Striking numbers are near dead even as we approach the final 30 seconds. Quarantillo goes on the offensive and lands a right that appears to have Swanson stumbling. Quarantillo scores a late takedown against the fence, potentially stealing the round.

Round 2

Quarantillo comes out on the attack in the second and Swanson attempts to respond with a straight left. Quarantillo appears to land a right hand during a frantic exchange and Quarantillo shoots in for a takedown, pushing Swanson against the fence. Swanson fends it off and punches his way away from the fence before doing a little dirty boxing in the middle of the Octagon. Near the two-minute mark of the round, Quarantillo lands a big knee that pops Swanson’s head back. Swanson backs away and Quarantillo pursues him, clinching up against the cage and landing a slick uppercut.

Swanson clinches and pushes Quarantillo back and away from the fence. Following an exchange in the center, Quarantillo pushes Swanson back against the fence and fishes for a single leg before switching to a double and getting the takedown. Swanson fights his way back up. Swanson circles away from the cage and re-engages with Quarantillo, landing a nice combination. Quarantillo responds with another knee up the middle before shooting in and landing another takedown.

Again, Swanson pops back up quickly and disengages, but there’s not enough time on the clock for him to land anything more.

Round 3

Both fighters start by exchanging in the center of the Octagon and Swanson connects with a head kick. Quarantillo eats it and keeps slugging away, looking to mix in a few jabs to the body. Just past the one-minute mark, Quarantillo shoots for a single leg, but Swanson breaks free and re-centers himself. Swanson lands a right hand followed by another before uncorking a monstrous right that instantly puts Quarantillo to sleep.
