Cub Swanson knocking out George Roop’s mouthpiece is worth watching over and over

Last night in Chicago Cub Swanson knocked out George Roop’s mouthpiece UFC Undisputed style. It was impressive, it made ESPN’s highlight list and now we show it to you in slow motion and forever repeating into infinity. My view of the knockout was obscured by the cage so I’m only now seeing this impressive feat. A few thoughts come to mind:

  • I wish Cub Swanson caught the flying mouthpiece in his hand then walked away victorious as he holds it in the air. Like a viking would hold up a dismembered head.
  • If Cub didn’t want to catch it in his hand, it would’ve also been awesome if he followed up his left and knocked the mouthpiece towards the referee. Or maybe out into the crowd.
  • The ultimate feat of hand eye coordination in this case would’ve been Cub quickly taking out his own mouthpiece then catching George Roop’s mouthpiece in his mouth. Then he would walk off like a boss smiling and showing it off.

The bottom line is this: we finally got to see a Cub win in Chicago, and in amazing fashion nonetheless. That’s the first time that’s happened in over a hundred years.
