Cris Cyborg Confident That She Could Submit Floyd Mayweather Jr. Under UFC Rules

UFC women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg says it would be nice for boxing legend Floyd Mayweather to compete in MMA but believes she would be able to take him down and force him to tap out.

After defeating UFC lightweight champion Conor Mcgregor in the tenth round back in August, there have been rumors of negotiations for a rematch between Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor are ongoing.

From past few months, Mayweather has been teasing the possibility of stepping into the octagon, potentially for another lucrative payday with the Notorious.

Cyborg, regarded as the best female fighter in the world today was asked about a potential fight against Mayweather during a recent interview with TMZ Sports:

“You know, I’m gonna try my grappling for him,” Cyborg said (transcript courtesy of MMA Mania). “The first thing I would try is a double leg. I think fight Mayweather in boxing, it would be crazy. But MMA, I would probably take him down. I’m not going to challenge my boxing with his boxing.”

She was confident that she’d make boxing champion Mayweather tap if she could get him to the ground.

”I know, but I’d need to slip my head a lot and have to be fast before I can catch him.”

Cyborg voiced her desire to box previously and even briefly lobbied for a spot on the undercard of the historic Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor super fight last August.

Cris “Cyborg” Justino is gearing up to make her second title defense against Yana Kunitskaya at UFC 222 in the main card from Las Vegas, NV’s T-Mobile Arena on Saturday, March 3.
