Cris Cyborg Agreed To Amanda Nunes Fight At UFC 228 On Sept. 8 In Dallas

Amanda Nunes Vs. Cris Cyborg May Go Down Later This Year

UFC has been trying to put together a super-fight between the women’s bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes and featherweight champion Cris Cyborg since earlier this year, then it was desired for UFC 226 on July 7 in Las Vegas, but that failed to come to fruition.

After several failed attempts, it looks like things seem to settle down, as Cyborg took to Twitter saying she’s agreed to a fight against Amanda Nunes at UFC 228 in September.

“My last fight was four months ago,” Cyborg wrote. “I’m ready to fight.”

In her third tweet, Cyborg reiterated Amanda Nunes’s initial desire to fight fellow Brazilian. After two failed PPV attempts, Cyborg got an itch to return to the octagon.

We couldn’t make it happen #ufc222 or #ufc226 but #LetsGoChamp #ufc228 you called me out now let’s handle it.

In another Tweet, Nunes also agreed to fight Cyborg even sign the contract but not at UFC 228, but at UFC 232, not that’s odd:

Waiting on you. @criscyborg #ufc232 December 29 Contrato assinado 29 de dezembro #ufc232

Cris Cyborg successfully defended her second title defense when she ran through Yana Kuntiskaya at UFC 222 event in Las Vegas, Nevada back in March. Before that, she scores a five-round decision win over former UFC bantamweight champ Holly Holm.

Cyborg claimed the vacant belt after defeating former Invicta FC titleholder Tonya Evinger at UFC 214 last year.

Amanda Nunes successfully defended her 135-pound title via fifth-round TKO win over Raquel Pennington at UFC 224 back in May.

For Nunes, she has an opportunity to become two-division champion when she challenges Cyborg for a featherweight title. However it’s not a done deal yet, but both agree to fight each other. Now UFC needs to make it official, let’s do it, Dana White.

UFC 228 is set to take place at American Airlines Center in Dallas on Sept. 8, currently booked a featherweight showdown between Yair Rodriguez and Zabit Magomedsharipov.
