The legal dispute between Brian “Liver King” Johnson and UFC commentator Joe Rogan has officially ended. A Travis County court confirmed that all charges against Johnson were dismissed Thursday, bringing closure to a strange months-long case that began with a series of erratic online videos.
Johnson, who built his fame by promoting an ancestral diet and consuming raw organ meat, was arrested in June after repeatedly posting messages aimed at Rogan. In the videos, he claimed he was traveling to Austin, Texas — where Rogan resides — to “fight” the longtime UFC commentator and podcast host.
According to the original complaint, Rogan’s security team contacted police after noticing the escalating nature of Johnson’s posts. Investigators described the videos as showing “numerous threats” and noted that Johnson had documented his trip to Austin with clear intent to confront Rogan. Officers later stated that Johnson appeared to be experiencing “a mental health episode” and might have been a danger to himself or others.
Rogan told police he viewed the influencer’s actions and statements as “threatening” and filed a report to ensure his family’s safety. He also clarified that he had never personally interacted with Johnson and did not understand why he was being targeted.
Court Dismisses the Case
Johnson was charged with making a terroristic threat, a misdemeanor, before being released on a $20,000 bond with strict conditions — including staying at least 200 feet away from Rogan, his family, and his home or businesses.
His attorney was scheduled to appear in court this week, but records now show the charges have been dismissed. Officials did not elaborate on the specific reason for the dismissal, though no evidence suggested Johnson continued any threatening behavior.
The decision effectively closes a case that combined social media spectacle with real-world consequences.
The tension between Johnson and Rogan traces back to Rogan’s public criticism of Johnson’s supplement business and his denial of steroid use. Rogan had previously accused the influencer of misleading fans about his physique and health claims.
Johnson, 47, gained viral attention for his extreme diet and self-branded “ancestral lifestyle,” which involved consuming raw liver and promoting various supplements. His reputation took a major hit in 2022 when leaked emails revealed he had used performance-enhancing drugs despite repeatedly claiming otherwise.
Johnson reportedly tried to book himself on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast to explain his side, but Rogan declined the offer. That rejection may have fueled Johnson’s increasingly erratic behavior in the weeks before his arrest.
With the case now dismissed, neither Rogan nor Johnson has publicly commented on the outcome.
