UFC bantamweight Cory Sandhagen is set to face former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo in the co-main event of UFC 315 on May 10 2025 in Montreal, aiming to deliver his best performance yet. Sandhagen, ranked No. 4 in the division, has a 17-5 record with 7 knockouts and 3 submissions. Figueiredo, ranked No. 5, holds a 24-4 record with 9 knockouts and 9 submissions.
In an interview with Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie, Sandhagen said:
“In the past, I’m just losing by inches. I’m not really losing by miles against any of these guys. I just gotta go out there and touch up some things. I’m sick of being the guy that’s really good at almost winning. It’s hard to be a really good fighter but I’m trying my best. I’m a super experienced guy.”
He added, “I think I can land myself in a little pot of luck after [the Deiveson Figueiredo fight]. I gotta go out there and make this luck happen by going out and looking like the most impressive Cory Sandhagen that the world has ever seen on Saturday.”

Can Sandhagen Outshine Figueiredo?
Sandhagen’s recent fights include a unanimous decision loss to Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC Abu Dhabi in August 2024 and a win over Marlon Vera at UFC San Antonio in March 2023. His high-output striking has led to close losses against contenders like TJ Dillashaw. Figueiredo, who moved to bantamweight in 2023, defeated Vera by unanimous decision at UFC Abu Dhabi in August 2024 but lost to Brandon Moreno at UFC 283 in January 2023. His power and submission skills pose a challenge.
UFC 315 features a main event with Belal Muhammad defending his welterweight title against Jack Della Maddalena. Sandhagen aims to refine his skills to avoid another narrow defeat. Figueiredo, with a 3-1 bantamweight record, seeks to climb the rankings.
Posts on X, like @DovySimuMMA, suggest Sandhagen’s pace could test Figueiredo, while @RobbieBlunt5 notes Figueiredo’s knockout power. This fight is a pivotal moment for both contenders.
