Corey Anderson Called Out ‘DC’ For 205 Pound Title Fight, Cormier Agreed

Daniel Cormier Accepted Corey Anderson’s Challenge

Daniel Cormier earned a historic first-round knockout victory over Stipe Miocic at UFC 226 earlier this month which made him the second fighter in the promotion’s history to hold two titles simultaneously. Cormier will make biggest bucks of his MMA career when Cormier set to face WWE star Brock ‘The Beast’ Lesnar sometime next year, as Lesnar is currently under USADA testing pool.

Cormier already said, he’s open to two fights and Lesnar would be his last before retirement. ‘DC’ wants to fight another opponent before WWE star Lesnar since the latter won’t be cleared to compete until 2019. Cormier teased the idea to defend the title against Shogun Rua, but Anthony Smith made quick work of him.

Now another contender, Corey Anderson who called out Cormier, to which ‘DC’ agreed.

Yo @dc_mma ,
They said a win over me and Glover would earn a title shot..I beat em, media said you wanted Shogun and he lost, you told Gus off, and you already fought Volkan.. I’ll never “call you out” out of respect. But I’m 100% down to fight you. #UFC @ufc #letsdoit

Ok , sure just find out when and where. I’ll be there. I always am!

Corey Anderson completed a bigger step in his journey from The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 19 to UFC championship contender. Anderson stepped in on two weeks’ notice for an injured Ilir Latifi to square off against one-time light heavyweight title challenger Glover Teixeira in the co-main event, and he won a convincing three-round decision at UFC Hamburg last weekend.

Gustafsson just got pulled from 227, to which Cormier said we would never fight again and Jon Jones future is still in the air, does anyone thought, Anderson will get a nod from champion Cormier.

Do you think Cormier should defend his light heavyweight title against Corey Anderson, as this moment that’s the best option for ‘DC’?
