UFC Fighter Michael Chiesa Files Lawsuit Against Former Two-Division Champion Conor Mcgregor Over Barclays’ Bus Attack
Conor Mcgregor continues to see the fallout from his Aprils bus rampage that was carrying UFC fighters from UFC 223 media day at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Due to that infamous attack, two UFC fighters landed in the hospital and essentially sabotaged the (PPV) event.
One of those fighters, Michael Chiesa who received face lacerations and pulled out of his scheduled bout against Anthony Pettis, filed a lawsuit against McGregor on Tuesday in Kings County New York.
Despite being pulled out of his bout, UFC paid him $48,000 but lost the fight on the second attempt, when he rebooked against Anthony Pettis, where Pettis defeated him via second-round submission at UFC 226.
Chiesa who now wants a payback, according to TMZ, Chiesa suing Mcgregor for “suing McGregor for assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.” In addition to that Chiesa also claims he suffered “severe emotional distress, mental trauma and/or bodily harm.” Moreover, a lightweight contender is also suing Barclay’s center for neglecting to prevent Mcgregor, claiming they failed “to engage in proper security measures to protect the plaintiff and other patrons.”
Women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas, who was also onboard in the bus, didn’t unhurt physically but still suffers emotional trauma from the attack and was on the verge of withdrawing from her rematch with Joanna Jedrzejczyk that weekend. She’s still recovering from that process.
Mcgregor who served a night in a lockup after an incident and was facing several charges including two felony counts of criminal mischief. To avoid jail time, Mcgregor reaches a plea deal with Brooklyn prosecutors back in August, was sentenced to five days of community service to attend anger-management classes and pay restitution for the damages.
Currently, Mcgregor is slated to challenge Khabib Nurmagomedov for a lightweight title in the main event of UFC 229 on October 6th from Las Vegas. UFC president Dana white already declared that this PPV event would be the biggest in company’s history.
