Conor McGregor, the former UFC champion, is facing a lawsuit alleging sexual assault during the 2023 NBA Finals. The plaintiff, identified as a senior Wall Street executive, claims McGregor led her to a bathroom stall at the Kaseya Center, where the alleged incident occurred.

According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff initially had an “amicable conversation” with McGregor in the Courtside Club area before being escorted to a bathroom by one of McGregor’s security team members. The incident has reignited discussions about safety measures at public venues and McGregor’s history of legal troubles.

Allegations Detailed in the Lawsuit

The alleged victim has filed a lawsuit seeking compensation for “past and future medical treatment, compensatory damages, costs,” while reserving the right to pursue punitive damages.

The lawsuit outlines the events that allegedly unfolded at the Kaseya Center after the Miami Heat game. Jane Doe claims she and McGregor initially engaged in a friendly conversation. Arena staff allegedly provided McGregor with multiple bottles of Proper No. 12 Irish whiskey and tequila.

As the plaintiff and her friend prepared to leave, a member of McGregor’s security team reportedly approached and said, “Conor told me to come get you,” before grabbing her wrist and leading her to a bathroom.

The alleged victim states she protested, but the security guard allegedly replied, “No, Conor will kill me if I lose you.” McGregor then reportedly emerged, grabbed her hand, and led her into the men’s bathroom.

The lawsuit alleges McGregor’s security team prevented the plaintiff’s friend from entering the bathroom. Inside, McGregor allegedly forced the plaintiff into a stall. What follows are detailed accusations, including claims that McGregor “attempted to forcefully place his unprotected penis into [her] mouth” and later “slammed” her against a wall when she tried to leave the stall. The victim claims McGregor then “attempted to forcefully place his unprotected penis into [her] anus without her consent.”

The plaintiff alleges the assault caused her physical, psychological, and emotional trauma.

McGregor’s attorney, Barbara Llanes, has denied the allegations. “After a thorough investigation at the time, the State’s Attorney concluded that there was no case to pursue,” Llanes said. “Almost two years and at least three lawyers later, the plaintiff has a new false story. We are confident that this case too will be dismissed.”

This lawsuit is not McGregor’s first encounter with legal issues. In 2018, McGregor was accused by Nikita Hand of sexual assault in a Dublin hotel room. While McGregor denied the allegations, he was ordered to pay $257,000 in damages following a civil case.

The Kaseya Center lawsuit also mentions McGregor’s involvement in an unrelated incident during the same NBA Finals game, where he injured the Miami Heat mascot, Burnie. The mascot handler required medical attention, raising concerns about venue staff’s awareness of McGregor’s behavior.

Civil Case as a Path to Justice

James Dunn, the plaintiff’s attorney, emphasized that this lawsuit is her only avenue for seeking justice after criminal charges were not pursued. “After the Miami-Dade County Prosecutor’s office elected not to pursue criminal charges, a civil case is the only avenue that my client has to seek justice in this case,” Dunn said.

Despite fears about how this case might impact her professional career, the plaintiff hopes it will raise awareness about reporting sexual assault.

McGregor’s Career

McGregor, 36, has not competed in the UFC since 2021. While he was slated to fight Michael Chandler, the bout was canceled due to injury. More recently, McGregor announced plans for a boxing exhibition against Logan Paul in India.

With ongoing legal challenges and public scrutiny, McGregor’s actions continue to overshadow his athletic career.
