Conor McGregor’s legal troubles are far from over. Despite losing a civil lawsuit brought by Nikita Hand over a 2018 sexual assault claim, a new legal battle has emerged concerning CCTV footage tied to the case.

Nikita Hand’s legal team has filed an injunction to prevent the footage from being leaked to the public. As reported by The Irish Mirror, McGregor received a legal notice to block the publication of the video, which was a central piece of evidence during the trial.

Why Lawyers Are Fighting to Block the Video

Hand’s attorneys argue that releasing the footage could undermine the court’s decision and damage the integrity of the legal process. According to her lawyer, the only motive behind publicizing the footage would be to discredit the court’s verdict and potentially benefit McGregor financially.

The court will decide on the matter this Thursday, January 16, 2025, in a ruling that could set a precedent for handling sensitive case materials.

What’s in the CCTV Footage?

While Irish law prevents direct reporting on the footage itself, trial discussions revealed its significance. McGregor’s legal team claimed the video contradicted Hand’s allegations of assault. They described scenes showing Hand hugging and kissing McGregor in an elevator, which they argued supported his claim of a consensual encounter.

Hand, however, testified that she was heavily intoxicated and unable to recall the events captured on camera. She maintained that she realized the alleged assault occurred only after McGregor left her hotel room.

What’s Next for McGregor?

McGregor continues to deny the allegations and plans to appeal the civil court’s ruling, which ordered him to pay €250,000 in damages. He remains steadfast in his claim that the encounter was consensual.

This legal dispute over the CCTV footage highlights ongoing tensions between privacy, public interest, and justice. As the case unfolds, it will likely spark further debate over how sensitive evidence is handled in high-profile legal battles.
