The UFC 326 main event will feature a rematch between Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira. The two respected fighters will meet in Las Vegas with the BMF title on the line.

Their first fight happened more than a decade ago. Since then, both men have built impressive careers in the UFC. Holloway became a long time featherweight champion while Oliveira later captured the lightweight title and set records for submission wins.

With such strong resumes, excitement around the rematch has been growing.

Before the event, several UFC fighters were asked to give predictions. Conor McGregor also shared his thoughts and delivered a longer response than most.

The Irish star began by praising the matchup and explaining why he enjoys seeing rivals meet again.

“Hello UFC!

“It is a great matchup, Holloway vs. Oliveira! I am very much looking forward to it!

“It is always exciting for me to see fighters rematch. It takes great courage and honour to do so and I always respect it.”

McGregor believes Holloway could repeat history

Looking back at their earlier fight, McGregor suggested the result could follow a similar path. In their first meeting, Holloway defeated Oliveira after the Brazilian suffered an injury during the bout.

McGregor believes Holloway’s movement and striking could once again cause problems.

“Their last time out it seemed Holloway broke Charles early in the fight and it was then stopped. It was hard to tell whether it was a genuine injury or a caused one. I see a real good fight but with a similar outcome [to be honest]. I think Max is light on his feet and can pop Charles and begin to break him again. It is a different Charles however, so we will see.”

McGregor questions the BMF belt

Despite showing respect for both athletes, McGregor also expressed doubt about the BMF title being attached to the fight.

“I don’t feel the BMF title is accurate here also with both men suffering in the sauna to make the limit. There is zero BMF about this. For me vs. either opponent next I feel supremely confident. I stop both men in their tracks. I am a bad man with a good heart, so I may add the BMF belt to my collection.

“Good luck with the event!”

The comment quickly caught attention among fans since McGregor hinted he could face the winner.

McGregor has not fought since July 2021. In that fight against Dustin Poirier, he suffered a broken leg that ended the bout and led to a long recovery.

He was expected to return in 2024 against Michael Chandler at UFC 303, but the fight was cancelled after McGregor withdrew because of another injury.

Since then, talk about his comeback has continued. McGregor has mentioned interest in a possible appearance at a UFC event planned at the White House. At the same time, many reports suggest his return could happen later this year.

UFC president Dana White has also hinted that Chandler might no longer be the opponent.

If that situation changes, the winner of the Holloway versus Oliveira fight could become a strong option. Both fighters are well known names and a matchup with McGregor would likely create major interest.

For now, the focus remains on UFC 326 in Las Vegas. Once the main event is finished, the result could shape the next step for one of the sport’s biggest stars.
