Video: Conor McGregor Showed Hook Kick To Jon Jones

The Former Two-Division Champ Conor McGregor Gave Jon Jones Free Kicking Lesson

After 15 months of a suspension because of steroid abuse, Jon Jones returned to Octagon in the main event of UFC 232, on December 29, 2018, where he defeated Alexander Gustafsson via third-round TKO.

In his last match, “Bones” remained dominant against Anthony Smith throughout the whole fight to secure a unanimous decision win after 25 minutes of a one-sided blowout (48-44 x 3) last Saturday night. It seemed Jones’ striking was better than ever, as he literally didn’t even let “Lionheart” get close.

Before Jones’ clash with Anthony Smith, UFC released a backstage video from November 2014, where the former two-division title winner Conor McGregor showed Jon Jones the secrets of hook kick.

Conor: Hook kick?

Jones: Yeah.

Conor McGregor: Both sides. Especially when you get guys that parry the game a lot. So many guys stand like this (McGregor shows stance) and have that parry game. You give them a side kick, get them to parry that, and that hook comes there (the Irishman shows the spot). See? It’s like a hook, only it’s your foot. It’s a nasty, nasty kick.

Jones: So how are you doing? Are you starting low?

Conor: Like, as if you are throwing a side kick, it was like “boom”.

Jones: You hit it to the body?

Conor: No, I did to VMO or to the head.

Jones: Got it.

Conor: It’s better.

Conor McGregor also shared his thoughts on the backstage video.
