Conor McGregor is backing fellow Irishman Ian Machado Garry to stop Islam Makhachev with a right high kick in the UFC 330 main event.
McGregor predicted a late finish, pointing to Garry’s length and work at Straight Blast Gym while arguing that Makhachev still has questions to answer at welterweight.

Garry enters the title fight with a 17-1 record after victories over Carlos Prates and Belal Muhammad. He has argued that his range and movement can keep Makhachev from imposing the smothering approach Garry previously compared to a weighted blanket.
Makhachev is 28-1 and making his first defense at 170 pounds. He can pass Anderson Silva’s former UFC record by earning a 17th consecutive company victory. McGregor’s pick goes the other way, months after Makhachev reacted to McGregor’s UFC 329 injury, but it depends on Garry surviving deep enough to create the high-kick opening he described.
UFC 330 takes place Saturday, Aug. 15, at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia and streams on Paramount+. The final prediction arrived after Makhachev and Garry completed their first fight-week faceoff at the Rocky statue.
