Conor McGregor has revealed his intention to run for the Irish presidency in 2025, confidently declaring himself as the “only logical choice” to succeed Michael D. Higgins, who is set to step down next October. While McGregor has previously shown support for Donald Trump’s presidential bid in the U.S., he’s now turning his sights to Irish politics, despite lacking any prior experience in the field. Despite living a life of luxury in the U.S., the UFC icon remains fiercely patriotic.

Known for stirring the pot with his political views, McGregor previously made headlines after the Dublin riots last year, which were sparked by the tragic stabbing of three children and a caregiver. Now, he’s shared some of his presidential ideas in a fiery post on X (formerly Twitter), and his supporters are rallying behind him, eager to see their favorite fighter take on one of the most high-profile roles in the country.

“As President I hold the power to summon the Dáil as well as dissolve it. So as i said before, I would have all the answers the people of Ireland seek from these thieves of the working man, these disrupters of the family unit, these destructors of small businesses, and on and on and on! These charlatans in their positions of power would be summoned to answer to the people of Ireland and I would have it done by day end. Or I would be left with no choice but to dissolve the Dáil entirely. Stop the train until. The people of Ireland deserve the answers they seek. Point blank. This would be my power as President. I know very well. Ireland needs an active President employed wholly by the people of Ireland. It is me. I am the only logical choice. 2025 is upcoming…”

Ireland’s current president, Michael D. Higgins, is in his second seven-year term and won’t be eligible to run in next year’s election.

Andrew Tate, another controversial figure, chimed in on McGregor’s post, pledging his vote for the MMA star. While McGregor eyes a move into politics, he’s not stepping away from the octagon just yet—he’s also planning a return to fighting by the end of the year as he continues to recover from injury, balancing both his ambitions in the cage and the political arena.

‘My grandfather is from Limerick. I have the Irish passport. I will vote for you. We must do something before it’s too late,’ Tate responded in his comment.

Conor McGregor, now 36, hasn’t fought in over three years and recently pulled out of his planned UFC 303 comeback due to a broken toe. UFC President Dana White has admitted that McGregor’s return isn’t even on his radar at the moment, leaving his scheduled opponent, Michael Chandler, in a bit of a tough spot.
