Conor McGregor hasn’t fought since 2021, when he broke his leg and lost to Dustin Poirier in their third fight. His leg healed a long time ago, but a toe injury kept him from returning at UFC 303 this summer.

Now, Conor is training again and says he will be back in 2025. He mentioned Michael Chandler as his opponent, though earlier, he had said he might fight Dan Hooker in February.

Conor McGregor Hints at 2025 Comeback Fight Against Michael Chandler

Last night, Conor McGregor posted on X to talk about some of his rivals, including Michael Chandler and featherweight champion Ilia Topuria. He also said fighting was too easy for him since he had already won multiple UFC belts by the age of 27.

His first message said:

“19 KO’s in Pro MMA, that not my business tho great chat Dana White, love your thinking!” Following that up, he said, “Anywhere, anyweight, anytime,” adding that “Dana knows.”

When Michael Chandler said Conor should try for his 20th knockout, Conor replied saying they would fight next, but he didn’t say when.

“Remember in the cold tub doing the TUF coaches’ challenge you said I’d be your 20th?” Chandler asked. “Show up and try me.”

Mcgregor responded with a mocking tweet, adding: “It’s you! Rest up and I’ll see you at the top.” He also tagged Dana White and used the hashtag “Man of my word”.

Dana White says Conor McGregor’s return will happen in late 2025. Conor had hoped to fight Michael Chandler by the end of this year, but now he will need to wait until later next year to fight again.

“Conor is going to come back late 25 so there is a lot of time for us to work out who is going to fight Conor,” he said at the UFC 309 press conference last month. “There is no doubt Conor wants to fight, he hits me up all the time.

“I told you guys he probably wasn’t going to fight in 2024 and he didn’t. He’s going to fight in 2025, probably at the end of the year, if it is earlier that is good for all of us.” Asked why it would take so long he replied that it’s just “how it plays out.”
