Conor McGregor has once again stolen the spotlight, setting a jaw-dropping figure for his long-awaited return. The Irishman says that to headline the UFC’s America 250 event at the White House, he expects nothing less than a $100 million purse and 100 Golden Visas for himself, his family, and close friends.

After briefly teasing the idea of running for president of Ireland, McGregor has shifted his attention back to the octagon. The former two-division champion hasn’t competed since breaking his leg at UFC 264 in July 2021 against Dustin Poirier, but his focus now appears fixed on making history in Washington.
UFC CEO Dana White has already hinted at McGregor leading the America 250 card. Still, the financial gulf between McGregor’s staggering ask and the promotion’s well-known reluctance to pay fighters remains a major obstacle.
The Champ Champ Speaks
Training clips have resurfaced on McGregor’s social media, where he has promised his fiercest version yet.
“The Champ Champ returns!” McGregor tweeted alongside footage of his workouts. “Just over 8 months to UFC White House. I look forward to seeing my body shape up. My shot selection refining. My masterpiece to be painted.”
“I have so much aggression built up that I must release,” he added. “I will throw harder and more venomous than I have ever thrown before. UFC’s Pay History and the Jones Factor
McGregor’s ask is unprecedented, but not entirely without precedent in scale. His fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018 alone generated nearly $200 million in pay-per-view and gate revenue. Still, UFC has been notoriously reluctant to loosen the purse strings.
When Jon Jones was in talks to defend his heavyweight title, reports surfaced that he was offered $30 million, already the richest UFC purse ever on the table, and he turned it down. That refusal underscored just how protective UFC remains over fighter pay, even for legends.
McGregor’s demand for more than triple that amount, plus visas, makes it even harder to picture the UFC saying yes, though his drawing power is unlike anyone else in MMA.
Michael Chandler Rivalry Still Looms
McGregor’s target opponent has been no mystery. He and Michael Chandler built up a grudge match while coaching opposing teams on The Ultimate Fighter in 2023. The two were scheduled to clash at UFC 303 in June 2024, but McGregor withdrew due to a toe injury.
