McGregor’s Road Back to the Octagon
McGregor last competed in the UFC in 2021 during his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier, where he suffered a broken leg. He spent several years recovering and initially planned a return in 2024 against Michael Chandler, following their time as coaches on The Ultimate Fighter. However, McGregor suffered a broken toe in training, and the fight was canceled.
When plans for a UFC event at the White House were announced by President Donald Trump as part of the American 250 celebration, McGregor expressed interest in being part of the card. He has also previously visited the White House and is known for publicly supporting the president.
Since declaring his intention to fight again, McGregor has returned to full-time training. He has largely focused on getting back in shape for competition and has stepped away from outside activities, including appearances at BKFC events, where he is a co-owner.
While he has not confirmed the date or opponent publicly, the timing of his announcement suggests the fight could be on the UFC White House card scheduled for June 14 in Washington D.C. UFC CEO Dana White recently confirmed that matchmaking for the event is nearly finished and that he planned to meet with Trump to finalize the card.
McGregor’s fans are now watching closely, with the former champion posting gym videos and training updates showing that he is preparing for a return to the Octagon.
