- Conor McGregor challenged Belal Muhammad to a title fight at 170 in his UFC return
- “Remember The Name” surprisingly thinks “Notorious” is a worthy opponent
Conor McGregor attempted to shoot for a title shot at welterweight and quickly got a response from Belal Muhammad.
Conor calls for a title fight at 170
Speaking during a recent live stream, “Notorious” made an impromptu callout on reigning welterweight champion Muhammad when asked for his thoughts on “Remember The Name.” For McGregor, it’s prefect timing as Michael Chandler is already booked against Charles Oliveira.
“He’s woeful. I want to fight him. Let’s schedule, okay, Chandler’s matched, Belal-McGregor UFC welterweight world title on the line. I’ve multiple knockouts at 170lb, I’m a force to be reckoned with at 170lb. I do damage at 170, check the stats. I’ve done them at 100 per cent accuracy, this man doesn’t even have a knockdown in UFC history. Not one knockdown, it’s embarrassing, to be honest… They’re all bums in the thing… come to me,” McGregor exclaimed.
Belal agrees
Unsurprisingly, Muhammad quickly learned about McGregor’s callout. Though the champ thinks it’s quite funny, he flirted with the idea of taking on McGregor next by stating that the Irish MMA superstar, who has not fought since 2021, “earned it.”
“😂😂wins over …🤔🤔ok I think he earned it,” Muhammad wrote on X as reply to McGregor.

As it stands, Muhammad sees himself possibly defending his welterweight title twice before moving up to middleweight to chase double champ status. On the other hand, McGregor has pushed his possible UFC return to 2025 but also hinted at a potential bare-knuckle boxing debut at BKFC soon.
