Combate Americas Withdraws Lucrative Offer To Featherweight Standout Yair Rodriguez

Earlier this month, UFC President Dana White told the Los Angeles Times, that rising featherweight contender Yair Rodriguez has been cut from the promotion after rejecting fights against Ricardo Lamas and Zabit Magomedsharipov. Mexican fighter claims he actually accepted a fight offer against both men, but Lamas chose to fight Mirsad Bektic instead, whereas Rodriquez was demanding more money to fight Magomedsharipov at UFC 227.

Free agent, Rodriguez revealed that he has been getting “really good offers” from other promotions and said he isn’t too worried about being released from the UFC. Rodriguez was referring Combate Americas, the rising MMA promotion for his next landing point; as per reports by MMAMania, the offer has been withdrawn. Combate Americas is beating all other MMA promotions in Latin America.

“We wish Yair the best of luck in his career,”

Reportedly, the offer was remarkably higher than what Yair Rodriguez made in the UFC.

Rodriguez banked $100,000 ($50,000 to show, $50,000 to win) at UFC Fight Night 103 for his TKO win over BJ Penn back in 2017.

The 25-year-old Mexican fighter was considered one of the promotions rising young talent, should be hired by any MMA promotion easily. Even Bellator President Scott Coker is interested in signing Yair Rodriguez.

What do you think where Rodriguez will end as he’s a free agent?
