Colby Covington: UFC 228 Won’t Sell PPV As Woodley Don’t Have Jones & Mcgregor’s Piggy Back Off

Colby Covington Says UFC Should Have Waited For Him As He’s A Promoter And Sells Fight

UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington who had a chance to win the undisputed title against Tyron Woodley but unable to make it to UFC 228 card due to health issues, instead UFC give the nod to rising star Darren Till.

Covington complains that promotion should wait for him to recover to face Woodley, since “The Chosen One’ and Till doesn’t have the drawing power to sell the PPV’s.

Last year UFC president Dana White shut those fighter’s mouth who isn’t significant PPV seller and always ask for money fights including Tyron Woodley.

Since Jon Jones is sideline due to a failed drug test and his return is unknown. Mcgregor who’s isn’t fighting on this card, and UFC will realize their mistake once UFC 228 PPV numbers emerged.

“They don’t sell fucking pay per views in the UK [where Till is from], and obviously no one cares about Woodley,” Covington told BJPENN.COM Radio. “He always has to piggy back off Jon Jones, and piggy back off Connor McGregor to make his money. So we know he can’t sell pay per views, so let’s be honest, this isn’t gonna do over 100,000 buys. They should have just waited for me,” he added.

“I would have easily got them 500,000 buys [if they had waited for me],” he said. “I’m a seller. I can promote. I know what I’m doing now, and I think they rushed it.”

Covington who’s fame and rise was no joke, as he proved himself to his audience that he’s the best welterweight in his division.

Despite the hatred he carries for Woodley, Covington is rooting for ‘The Chosen One’ to come out victorious against Till so that he can face him some time by the end of this year.

“I never thought I would say this, but I’m actually rooting for Woodley,” he said. “I want him to win, because I don’t want him to fuck up everything I built. I built this fight with him for over a year and a half. I’ve been begging to fight him, dude, he’s ducking me every shot he can. So I’m begging for Woodley not to fuck this up.”

Woodley who’s returning after a year may face some challenges during his title defense against Darren Till who’s undefeated inside the Octagon.

UFC 228 PPV card also features a women’s Flyweight title fight between Nicco Montano and Valentina Shevchenko and a featherweight bout between Yair Rodriguez and Zabit Magomedsharipov.

Do you think Woodley vs. Till will sell enough PPV to make a UFC proud?
