Colby Covington Threatens To Slap UFC Commentator Joe Rogan

Brash UFC welterweight Colby Covington may have his hands full in preparation for former lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos, however, his focus seems to be on Joe Rogan after hearing the UFC color commentators most recent podcast.

While discussing Covington’s brand of trash talk with guest Alexander Gustafsson during The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan warned the UFC welterweight of the consequences of his words, specifically citing Covington’s verbal attacks on Jon Jones (Bloody Elbow):

“Jon Jones is going to be in front of you one day. You’ve got to be careful, watch your f-cking words. You’re going to get slapped in the face by a guy who can kill you with his hands. That’s a bad move.”

“I get what Colby’s doing. He’s making a lot of noise and trying to do business. And if you fight him, you’re going to make a lot of money, because a lot of people are going to come and see him get his ass kicked.”

Of course Covington heard this and couldn’t help but respond in classic Colby Covington fashion. The 30-year-old welterweight contender called Rogan out for his statement, and happened to threaten violence in doing so:

“I think Joe Rogan should worry about what he’s saying about me because we might just meet face to face soon in the near future. He might be commentating that Chicago card, so that’s kind of hypocritical of him to say something like that because when he’s talking about me, we might be face to face. I might just have to slap him.”

Covington is no stranger to controversy. He infamously got into it with heavyweight Fabrício Werdum while the two were in Australia, prompting Werdum to throw a boomerang at Covington.

Covington will take on Dos Anjos at UFC 225 on June 9 for the interim welterweight title. Hopefully, Rogan and Covington don’t cross paths in Chicago!
