Colby Covington has once again unleashed a nasty rant and this time his target is Dustin Poirier.
Covington and Poirier used to be teammates at American Top Team. Things soured between the two when “Chaos” predicted that Poirier wouldn’t be able to handle the wrestling of Khabib Nurmagomedov ahead of their Sept. 2019 fight. He even bashed Poirier’s wrestling abilities.
Poirier was far from the only ATT fighter who Covington ripped but “The Diamond” has insisted that he wants to fight his former teammate on the streets.
Colby Covington Hurls Nasty Dig At Dustin Poirier
Speaking to the media ahead of his March 5 grudge match with Jorge Masvidal, another former teammate, Colby Covington accused Dustin Poirier’s wife of cheating on “The Diamond” for Conor McGregor.
“That fight needs to happen. He’s talking too reckless in the media now. He said, ‘It’s on sight,’ and the last time he was talking to you clickbait merchants he was saying, ‘Oh, I’m not gonna fight Colby in the Octagon where there’s finances on the line. I’m gonna fight him in the streets and we’re both gonna go to jail.’
“It’s funny cause it’s very ironic because he talks about being a family guy, a good guy but he wants to fight me in the streets and potentially go away from his family.
“So, Dustin Poirier has all these stipulations to fight me. I just have one stipulation. My one stipulation is he lets the world watch and enjoy themselves.
“You know Dustin, like you do with Conor when he’s in bed with your wife Jolie. You little cuck.”
Covington’s comments stem from McGregor’s claim that Poirier’s wife tried to slide in his DMs. Poirier holds two finishes over McGregor, yet the “Notorious” one and “The Diamond” continue to hurl barbs.
Covington will need to focus solely on Masvidal this weekend as there is serious bad blood. The two will finally throw leather in the main event of UFC 272. It’ll be held inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
