Colby Covington Blasts Jon Jones, Claims To Have Destroyed Him In College
Colby Covington is known nowadays for being a somewhat controversial fighter. However, most people forget that he was originally known strictly for being a college training partner of Jon Jones.
However, their relationship is less than amicable as of late. With Colby having turned into a heel-like figure, and Jones having endless controversies himself, the two have traded words on more than one occasion. Now the aim of Colby Covington has been turned towards their time together in college. Covington had some harsh words for the Light Heavyweight Champion on BJPenn.com Radio.
“I’ll destroy Jonny. I was destroying him in college, dumping him on his head every day in practice. You can go ask anybody in the Iowa Central wrestling room that was there when we were there. I’d love to get my hands on Jonny picograms, man. If he didn’t have all those picograms in his system, he wouldn’t be the same fighter he is today. He’s a fucking piece of shit.”
These are bold words for his former roommate. However, the likelihood of these two facing off is almost non-existent. They are separated by two weight classes, and 35lbs. Although there does seem to be a legitimate beef between the two.
Jon Jones is set to face Thiago Santos at UFC 239. Colby Covington is currently waiting for a bout. However, the former interim champ should be next to face newly crowned champion Kamaru Usman. Usman is another man that Colby has had disagreements with in the past.
