Colby Covington: “My Title Fight Versus Tyron Woodley Will Be Greater Than Khabib Vs Conor”

Tyron Woodley shocked the world at the main event of the UFC 228 on September 8, 2018. He defeated Darren Till with an ease via second-round D’Arce choke. The Gorilla threw less than 10 strikes during the whole match and didn’t look like himself at all. Yet, Colby Covington wasn’t impressed with T-Wood’s performance. Chaos claims Woodley repeats the same things over and over. Covington also looked back at Woodley’s fights versus Nate Marquardt and Rory MacDonald. (via MMAMania.com)

“I was not impressed at all. He shows the same stuff he always shows. He backs up, looking for that right hand, he is predictable,” said Colby during a recent interview on “The Ariel Helwani MMA Show.”

“Look at the way Nate Marquardt fought him, knocked him out and left him in a pool of his own blood unconscious. Rory McDonald beat that little bitch up, he’s a predicable fighter. When you got a little soy boy who is in there, they don’t know what they’re doing, I know what I’m doing. All these guys can talk the talk but they don’t walk the walk.”

Dana White stated before UFC 228 that Colby Covington would be stripped of UFC Welterweight Interim title. He defeated Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 225 on June 9, 2018. Yet, he later declined to fight Tyron Woodley due to the nasal surgery. Chaos later claimed nobody informed him his title stripe is going to happen.

Colby Covington stated one pretty much controversial thing. He believes his title fight versus Tyron Woodley will be greater than Khabib Vs Conor showdown! He backs his statements with the fact that he and Woodley have a serious history and storyline. According to Covington, Conor wants money, while Khabib only knows to wrestle.

“Without a doubt, it will be Covington vs. Woodley. The sides in the line that are going to be drawn, the anger, the storyline, we have a serious history. Everybody knows that. There’s too much juiciness in that fight,” he added while dubbing Khabib vs. Conor the “junior varsity” side.

“The Conor and Khabib fight, yeah that’s cool, but, Conor is just looking to get paid and Khabib, all he does is wrestle. They are little lightweights, that’s the JV side. If you want to come up in weight come up to the varsity squad.”

Tyron Woodley will probably be ready to fight again soon. Colby Covington is not injured at the moment. UFC 230 misses the headline fight but UFC 231 and UFC 232 might also come as acceptable options. Would you like to see Woodley Vs Covington as soon as possible? What are your thoughts on Covington’s “popularity theory”?
