Colby Covington is really good at talking trash and making big, bold statements. He uses his words like a superpower to become one of the most famous fighters in the welterweight division. But even Colby, who loves to say wild and funny things to get under people’s skin, says there are a couple of things he’ll never make fun of.

Sometimes, people think Colby goes too far with what he says. Fans have called him out for crossing the line. But he says he knows where to stop and won’t joke about certain serious things, no matter how much he wants to win a verbal battle.

Colby Covington sets surprising limits on his trash talk

Colby Covington is known for saying big, loud things that sometimes make people really upset. Once, he said something mean about Leon Edwards’ dad, who sadly passed away when Leon was just a kid. Colby said it at a big press conference before their fight, and it made a lot of people feel sad and mad. But even after that, Colby didn’t say sorry. He said he meant what he said and wouldn’t take it back.

Now, Colby says there are only two things he would never make fun of, no matter what. He also talked about rules in the UFC that stop fighters from going too far with their words. Even though he loves being bold and loud, Colby says some things are just too serious to joke about.

During a chat with Patrick Bet David, he mentioned:

“You’ll definitely get a call at times if you’re racist or you go after someone’s religion. But I’d never go after those two things. I’ll expose things that need to be exposed because it’s the truth and it’s honesty.”

Talking about his remarks on his former rival, he said:: “You can look up the public records about his dad. And it’s not my fault, he’s the one that put him in the limelight in the first place and make it a sympathetic figure.”

Colby Covington isn’t shy about speaking his mind, even if it’s about someone as big as Jon Jones. In a recent interview, Colby didn’t hold back and shared why he thinks Jon has messed up his own legacy. He feels that Jon, despite being a UFC champion, has made mistakes that hurt how people will remember him. According to Colby, Jon’s actions have taken away from the greatness he could have had.
