- Colby Covington took home nearly $50,000 prize money from a poker tournament in Florida
- “Chaos” finished at seventh place in the tournament that reached over $2.5 million prize pool
After dealing with a series of controversies that stemmed from his thrilling victory over his nemesis Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272, Colby Covington has decided that to chill out a bit and play some cards.
Not bad at all
The multi-time UFC title contender was in Hollywood, Florida to compete at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino’s $400 Deep Stack No-Limit Hold’em event. The casino said there were more than 7,700 entries in the poker tournament and the prize pool reached over $2.5 million. Covington, who finished at seventh place after being eliminated by Tommy Morgado in their head-to-head clash, pocketed $48,298. The final five players agreed to split the entire prize pot according to their chip holdings. Morgado, who finished second, took home about $187,000.

Colby didn’t fold
Covington’s prize money could’ve been bigger had he managed to get past Morgado in his final table at the tournament. “Chaos” held an Ace of hearts and 8 of diamonds and went all in against Morgado, who had an Ace and King of diamonds. Both players did not get any help from the cards on the table, making Morgado the winner, eliminating Covington in the process.
To this day, the UFC has yet to reveal its plans for Covington, who remains the No. 1 welterweight contender in the world. But at least, “Chaos” is making some money while nothing is concrete yet.
