Cody Garbrandt answered retirement talk with an Instagram statement after UFC 329, and the wording leaned toward resistance instead of goodbye.
Garbrandt posted after Adrian Yanez stopped him by TKO at 2:47 of Round 1 on the UFC 329 prelims. The former bantamweight champion left the cage with his gloves off, which immediately raised questions about whether he was finished competing.

Garbrandt Left Without A Retirement Speech
The gloves-off exit created the speculation. Garbrandt did not give a farewell interview in the cage, and his next public message did not use retirement language. It framed the loss as damage to absorb, not a closing announcement.
The official result was a first-round TKO for Yanez, who improved to 18-6-1 and picked up one of the biggest names on the UFC 329 undercard.

Garbrandt fell to 15-8. The UFC lists him with 11 knockout wins and eight first-round finishes, which is why his name still carries weight even after a rough post-title run.
His peak remains one of the cleanest nights in bantamweight history. Garbrandt won the UFC title from Dominick Cruz at UFC 207 on Dec. 30, 2016, then lost the belt to T.J. Dillashaw at UFC 217 in 2017.
