CM Punk Could Return To Octagon, Still in USADA Testing Pool

CM Punk Could Return to Action, Still Tested By USADA

Still hoping for one last ‘hoorah’ from UFC welterweight CM Punk? Well, good news may be ahead for any fans holding onto seeing Punk appear in the octagon once more. TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter revealed some encouraging news by sifting through the USADA database. It turns out, Punk (AKA Phil Brooks) is still being tested by USADA, making Brooks eligible for a UFC octagon return.

The last time the UFC saw Punk in the octagon was back in June of 2018. During that bout, Punk fell short to a dominant performance from Mike “The Truth” Jackson. Before that, Punk lost his UFC debut to newcomer Mickey Gall, in which he was tapped out just shy of two minutes into the bout. However, Brooks is still in the USADA testing pool. As well as a few other names that have been inactive.

USADA’s Database

In the tweet from Bronsteter, he revealed the recent testing of Phil Brooks. Also, Aaron listed Chris Holdsworth, Travis Browne, and Punk’s last opponent; Mike Jackson.

Searching in the USADA database, Middle Easy found Phil Brook’s USADA testing.

The screenshot reveals that Brooks was tested on four separate occasions in the year 2019. USADA doesn’t provide information on the exact dates or times when the testing was completed. However, knowing that Brooks is being consistently tested means that his return to the octagon won’t be complicated.

The Return of CM Punk

Now that fans are aware that Brooks is still being tested, do they want to see a return to the cage? While Punk is currently 0-2 in the UFC octagon, many fans are anxious to perform again due to his name value. Others feel like he doesn’t belong amongst the elite of the sport under the UFC banner.

If the UFC were to match Punk up with someone of equal experience, would fans tune in? And, are fans excited for the return of Punk if he chooses to so?
