- Chuck Liddell believes Jon Jones wouldn’t have been able to beat him
- “Iceman” thinks he would’ve forced “Bones” to strike with him
Chuck Liddell insists that Jon Jones would’ve had some troubles against him inside the Octagon.
Chuck thinks he would’ve been a nightmare for Jones
Speaking on The JAXXON podcast, “Iceman” suddenly dropped a huge claim while talking about “Bones.” According to Liddell, he and Jones had different styles but “Bones” wouldn’t have been able to control the fight against him.
For Liddell, he would’ve had forced Jones in a standup war and evidently knock him out.
“That’s why I always say I would’ve been a bad matchup for him,” Liddell said of Jones. “I’m probably one of the few guys where he’d have a hard time dictating where I fought him. He would’ve had to fight me standing up, he couldn’t outwrestle me, he couldn’t take me down.”
“Jon Jones, no, he wouldn’t be able to take me down, he would’ve had to strike with me. And I’m a longer than people think. I’m 79.5[inches] with my wingspan,” he added.
Jones is making his return
Liddell could be right about his take on Jones but it’s impossible to confirm that at this point. The only thing certain now is that “Bones” is just weeks away from making his UFC return.
Jones will finally take on Stipe Miocic in a battle for legacy at UFC 309. The reigning heavyweight champion will look to defend his title and cement his status as the one and only MMA GOAT once and for all.
As for Liddell, “Iceman” ha been retired since 2018. He last fought professionally at Golden Boy MMA where he got knocked out by Tito Ortiz in their epic trilogy fight.
