Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera may not be fighting at UFC 313 this weekend, but the one-time title challenger still found his way into headlines.
In a now-viral video released Friday morning, Vera was doing some work on his truck when a man approached him in his driveway and brandished a knife during an alleged attempted robbery. It was then that Vera quickly dove into his vehicle and pulled out a shotgun. Seeing the weapon pointed directly at him, the alleged robber thought twice about what he was doing and quickly fled the scene.

Coming up short in three of his last four fights, Vera will return to the Octagon on May 3 for a clash with Mario Bautista at UFC Des Moines. ‘Chito’ is currently sitting on back-to-back losses against then-bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley and former flyweight titleholder Deiveson Figueiredo.
Bautista has won seven in a row, including a unanimous decision victory over Jose Aldo in his last outing.
