Daniel Caruso wouldn’t have worked (cinematically) if he were the ‘Karate Adult’. Mr. Miyagi would have already painted his own fence, waxed his own car, and there’d be nothing left to teach a dude who wanted to enter a Karate tournament to pick-up girls. By then, all the ladies would already be MMA fans and they probably stopped swooning over Karate practitioners as soon as Harold Howard threw his flip kick at UFC 3. Luckily, the Karate Kid saved the world from the scenario above by showing what a boy could accomplish if he becomes friends with a Japanese Karate master. Unfortunately, not everyone understood the film’s message in its entirety.
Children competing in MMA is a polarizing topic. It’s hard to argue in favor of kids sustaining repeated head trauma in the form of concussions, so we’re not going to go out on a limb and say that we’re in favor of it. What we will say is that MMA is an amazing sport that has numerous disciplines, some of which can be learned at a young age with little to no risk of long-term injuries. Unfortunately, these three ladies didn’t see the big deal with all that ‘nonsense,’ so they let the kids fight with only one rule: “No pinching, only punching.”
These employees of Hands Of Our Future Daycare in Dover, Delaware were arrested after cell phone video was discovered of them allegedly encouraging two 3-year-olds to fight in what appeared to resemble an organized MMA contest. Delaware Police Captain Tim Stump told the media: “One of the kids involved ran over to one of the adults for protection, but she turned him around back into the fight.” The three women were then charged with assault, endangering the welfare of a child, reckless endangering, and conspiracy.
