So it wasn’t what you were expecting, but by some strange technicality this is considered staredown regardless of the fact that Shogun Rua was preoccupied by a shiny object in the crowd. Actually, when asked to face-off, Shogun Rua refused to look at Jon Bones Jones and instead, veered his attention to something that was highly more interesting in the crowd. Perhaps it was Bauzen’s Green MiddleEasy shirt, in which case we totally understand. Those things are wildly distracting, even for the UFC light heavyweight champion. Let’s hope the official staredown on Friday will include more eye-contact and hopefully one of those white masks will be thrown in for good measure.
