Charles Oliveira has signed a new eight-fight UFC contract, keeping the former lightweight champion and current BMF titleholder tied to the promotion long term.

Coach Diego Lima confirmed the deal to AG Fight. If Oliveira completes the full agreement, he would reach 45 UFC appearances.

Lima described the contract in positive terms during an interview with AG Fight.

“It was a wonderful deal,” Lima said. “There’s not a single bad thing to say, it was an incredible deal. … We’ve got fights lined up until Charles is 40 years old. So for those people who were saying he was going to retire, just wait a bit longer.”

Oliveira is 36 and has been fighting in the UFC since 2010. His official MMA record stands at 37-11 with one no contest, and he has competed at featherweight and lightweight during his UFC run.

The Brazilian is a fourth-degree Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and remains one of the UFC’s most productive finishers. He holds the promotion records for most submission wins, most finishes, and most post-fight bonuses.

Oliveira Stays In The Lightweight Title Picture

Oliveira is still chasing another lightweight title run. He lost his bid to regain the belt when Ilia Topuria knocked him out in the first round in July, then stayed active in the division.

Oliveira responded with a submission win over Mateusz Gamrot, then beat Max Holloway by decision in March to claim the BMF title.

Topuria and Justin Gaethje are expected to unify belts at UFC Freedom 250 on June 14 at the White House in Washington, D.C., while Islam Makhachev remains tied to the top of the division through his own next-fight uncertainty.

Oliveira’s finishing numbers remain central to his case. His grappling can change a fight quickly, and his résumé still makes him relevant near the top of the division.

The new contract does not guarantee another title shot, but it keeps Oliveira in position for one if the division opens after Topuria vs. Gaethje.

His recent pushback at Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz also showed that Oliveira has options outside the title race if the UFC goes in another direction.
