  • Chael Sonnen has vowed to vote for Conor McGregor as Ireland’s president if he gets to be a voter in the country
  • “The Bad Guy” thinks “Notorious” has an advantage and disadvantage in politics

Chael Sonnen will not hesitate to vote for Conor McGregor should the former UFC two-division champ decides to run for Irish presidency.

Chael thinks Conor has a chance

Speaking on his YouTube channel, “The Bad Guy” got brutally honest about his take on McGregor possibly running for the president of Ireland. Sonnen made a good point in emphasizing McGregor’s undeniable charisma which could be his advantage if he decides to enter politics.

“The idea of Connor going into politics of what he knows nothing about isn’t the disqualifier from politics I know lots of politicians that don’t have any idea what politics are about i know a number of people that would like to stop those kinds of politicians and can’t,” Sonnen explained.

“If you got a nice smile and an ability to stand in front of your local news with a message, you got a very good likelihood or at least better so likelihood of getting elected into politics than the expert that knows everything about ’em but pees his pants when he talks on stage in front of people,” he continued.

“The question is does Conor have any political aspirations and could Conor get elected in Ireland? There’s parts about Conor that I would definitely vote for, but there’s also a lot of people that I know in Ireland and they do not care for him,” he added.

Chael points out a possible hole in McGregor’s candidacy

Sonnen expressed his full support for “Notorious” even if he doesn’t get to vote in Ireland. However, the former UFC light heavyweight title challenger speculated that some Irish people may not feel the same way about McGregor because of the way he flaunted his riches in other countries instead of Ireland.

“One of the very first things that he did is bought property elsewhere,” Sonnen stated. “Guys always try to make that mistake. They try to wave a flag over their head and then wave the Bahamas all over their social media. Wave a new boat they bought that they’re storing in Italy while trying to act. It’s just one of those things… So I don’t know that Conor could get elected and I don’t know that that’s my business. I don’t get a vote. if I did, I actually would vote for him.”

The buzz about McGregor possibly transitioning to politics stemmed from his recent compelling speech at the White House where he addressed the ongoing issues in Ireland. However, nothing is official at this point.
