If you go to Chael Sonnen’s official site for his 2010 Oregon State Representative campaign, you can sign up to help Chael by making phone calls, posting a lawn sign or even walking door to door with Chael. It’s a good way to meet a guy that has a title shot coming up in exactly two months. To be a part of Sonnen’s campaign, you have to call yourself a gangster from Oregon and develop a strong vehement hatred for pink polo shirts. You also have to claim that Anderson Silva has been ducking Sonnen for years since it’s just par for the ‘conservative republican’ course.
“He’s been ducking me for four years. This fight is a large part about the title and a large part about him. We’re not going to be friends. He’s not my kind of guy. But this fight is also to prove a point to the rest of the guys in the division. One guy has challenged him in four years and it’s been me.”
There’s nothing like a good Chael Sonnen verbal beatdown, but this time Anderson Silva responds…sort of.
“Chael is a very good fighter. I am training very hard with my team, and Minotauro Nogueira and Lyoto Machida, and I will be ready. This is a title fight and I expect him to be ready because I know I will be. If the guy wants to talk that’s fine. It’s a lot different inside the Octagon.”
My god this lopsided UFC 117 smack talk. If only Nick Diaz would go up to middleweight and move to the UFC will we ever see the 209 mean-mug evolve to it’s purest form. [Source]
