Chael Sonnen seems certain that Nate Diaz is not working on a deal with the WWE.

Since leaving the UFC, the fans have been wanting to know, what is next for Nate Diaz? Diaz has spent the last 15 years fighting in the UFC. He came to the organization in 2007 and worked his way up to becoming one of the most popular fighters on the roster. His cult following has made him a star and now that he is finished with his UFC contract, he will be searching outside the promotion for more lucrative opportunities.

So far there have been rumors that Diaz will be moving to boxing next. He has been in Twitter feuds with Jake Paul and both have expressed interest in facing each other at some point. He also could be entering into an agreement with Floyd Mayweather for a fight. Both of these seem like realistic options for him, but what about the possibility of joining the WWE? Diaz was seen and photographed with some big names in the WWE and this has begun the talk that perhaps there is something blooming there. Chael Sonnen, who is always outspoken about all things MMA, chimed in.

Chael Sonnen thinks there is no way Nate Diaz signs with the WWE

“You’re never going to see Nate Diaz do anything with the WWE never, not something that’s paid,” Sonnen said on his YouTube Channel. “They might give him a ticket, and they might flash the camera to him and when he gets there that night, for his free seat, maybe someone comes out says, Hey, we’re even going to work you into the cameras if you want to, this guy is going to come over and talk to you, but that’s not paid. That’s not a contract. That’s not some kind of agreement.”

Sonnen seems to think that the photo is just a publicity stunt and that Diaz truly has no intention of joining the company. Many former or current UFC fighters have made the leap to professional wrestling either for a career change or just for a few appearances. The most notable is perhaps Ronda Rousey who had the most success in the crossover.

“The reason I’m telling you that’s never going to happen, the WWE is the scum of the earth. But they’re very good at getting attention. So the fact that the WWE told us that they’re talking with Nate means they have absolutely no intent of doing anything with him,” he said. “They have now already won. They got the headlines, they got the dialog, it cost them a grand total of nothing, I’m over here helping to perpetuate that. It cost them a grand total of nothing. But it’s also a massive clue, you don’t have any star that’s ever gone to the WWE that you were told ahead of time. It’s in the moment, it’s live, it’s a surprise. And you would see why it doesn’t really work to say we’re working with this guy, and then you bring him in, and then you let them know the script, right I mean, at some point, the entertainment and the kayfabe have to not collide. So I can tell you that Nate’s gonna be doing nothing with the WWE.

Diaz seems determined to try boxing as a next move and could be leaving the door open for a UFC return in the future. He is also starting up his very own fight promotion that will be bringing him some revenue as well.
