The future of Conor McGregor in combat sports has been clouded with uncertainty lately. Despite plans for a UFC return against Michael Chandler last June, McGregor’s comeback has been delayed due to injury. UFC president Dana White has made it clear that McGregor won’t fight until 2025, leaving fans wondering what’s next for the former two-division UFC champion.

Recently, McGregor stirred up more speculation by posting on social media about his next move. Rather than a return to MMA, McGregor hinted at a massive boxing match against Logan Paul, promising a $250 million payday. It didn’t take long for the rumor mill to pick up speed, with McGregor retweeting a post confirming the bout.

Chael Sonnen Skeptical of Conor McGregor’s $250 Million Matchup with Logan Paul

However, Chael Sonnen, the former UFC title challenger and popular analyst, doesn’t believe the rumored boxing match with Paul will happen. He has dismissed the idea entirely, stating that the claims are far from the truth.

“There is a very big former champion that’s a star of the mixed martial arts. His name is Conor McGregor. He is claiming that he’s going to get $250 million to go box Logan Paul in India for a billionaire investor who wants to bring attention and tourism to India,” Sonnen said on his YouTube channel.

“Not a single word is true. You’ve got to understand, Conor is not boxing Logan Paul. There is not a billionaire in India looking to bring people over and change tourism. That is something that is exclusively done by a government,” Sonnen added. “There’s no check for $250,000,000… He’s kidding. You’ve not supposed to believe any of that to be true.”

Sonnen’s skepticism comes at a time when McGregor’s career seems to be at a crossroads. Fans have been waiting for his return, but McGregor’s priorities may be shifting. The $250 million price tag for a boxing match with Paul seems to be more of a pipe dream for now, according to Sonnen.

While McGregor remains one of the biggest names in combat sports, the path ahead remains unclear. Whether McGregor can come back to MMA or cash in on a big boxing match remains to be seen, but for now, fans can take Sonnen’s words with a grain of salt.
