This is either a great sign or an all time bad sign for the chances of Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson. There really is no other outcome.
Nine days ago, MiddleEasy.com reported a rumor that the UFC was already working on Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson and that it would be for a title. On the top of all that Bones vs. Gus part two would also likely occur before the end of 2018.
Fast forward nine Earth rotations later and good old Jon Jones is cleared to fight on October 28th. Funny how, sometimes the Fight Gods look down on us and toss us a bone. Also, USADA will forever and always be the worst thing to come into MMA.
So YOLO Bones Jones is back in the UFC, and it just so happens that UFC 230 in Madison Square Garden, In New York City stills needs a main event.
Would the UFC?
Could the UFC really?
Does the UFC not have any shame?
If you’re a fan of MiddleEasy, you’re smart and you already know the answers to all of those questions.
What now gives a little pause about this rumor is the fact that Chael “Freaking” Sonnen now agrees with it. In fact Chael was even a little surprised the UFC didn’t announce Jones vs. Gustafsson during the UFC 229 three ring circus yesterday in New York City. Per Chael, he gets why the UFC didn’t do it but he is now fully buying into Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson going down at UFC 230.
Chael P. is really standing firm on that UFC 230 date and he’s sticking to it.
We believe it.
Chael believes it.
Now will the UFC go with Bones vs. Gus Part II or will they swerve everyone and book Jones vs. Brock Lesnar just because?
