Cesar Gracie attributes a gluten-free, raw food diet to Nate Diaz's success at 155 lbs

The night when Nate Diaz put that superhuman-like performance on Cowboy Cerrone at UFC 141, I found myself hanging out with the Diaz brothers inside their hotel room, listening to Nick talk about how if the entire world went to a gluten-free diet, health care providers would be virtually out of business. Nate dipped out of the hotel room to celebrate his win by eating some pizza saturated in grease and blood clots at Italian restaurant inside the MGM Casino. Literally minutes later, Nate came rushing back to the hotel room telling us how he puked in the bathroom after taking just a few bites of something that was unhealthy. The moral of the story is if Ben Henderson wants to defeat Nate Diaz at UFC on FOX next month, just shove a piece of pepperoni pizza into his mouth. Instant victory.

The truth is if you’re not abiding by a diet low in carbohydrates, consisting of mostly vegetables — then you’re just killing yourself. Hate to sound preachy, but I’m just trying to enable you guys to live long enough to see Fedor vs. Brock Lesnar at UFC 171. I’ve even gotten MiddleEasy’s Jason Nawara on the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer. In a recent interview with BJPenn.com, Cesar Gracie confirms what we already thought: Nate Diaz’s success at 155 lbs is attributed to (in part) to a gluten-free, raw food diet.

“I’m very proud of Nate, I was with him today and we brought in some pro boxers to spar with him,” Gracie told BJPenn.Com Radio. “He’s really looking great and he’s getting better all the time. He has grown into his own game and he’s looking really good. I couldn’t be prouder and he’s only going to keep getting better. He eats really good, he works out and he’s a really good guy.”

“One problem we were having when he was fighting at 155 previously, I mean he had a lot of talent obviously, but I wasn’t seeing the best Nate Diaz come fight time. The weight cut was really hard on him and by the time he fought he was so sluggish. It took him awhile to get going and he began to understand he pretty much was going to lose the first round. He has changed up his diet, he cut out gluten and some other stuff and began eating some raw foods. I introduced Nick to the gluten free diet and he told Nate and it’s made the weight cut a lot easier. He’s got a lot more energy now at 155 than he did before.”

You’ll probably have a lot more energy if you put down the Cheetos and pick up a head of cauliflower every once in a while. More energy to…operate your thumb faster when playing Halo 4. It’s also important to note that raw food, gluten-free diets don’t work with Call of Duty. Not at all. Only good first-person shooters that aren’t overhyped.
