Ah Jose. Why make your MMA debut at Dream 9 against a 7’2 Japanese guy named Hong Man Choi. Why? The $100,000+ pay check? I understand. Look, everyone knew Canseco was going to lose this fight. After admitting that he was ‘afraid of his opponent’ shortly before the fight, its safe to say that Jose knew he was going chalk up an L in this fight. I sincerely believe the dude had no idea of Hong Man Choi’s dominance.
But hey, you have to admit you didn’t think it was going to go on for that long. Canseco almost lasted a full two minutes in the ring with a guy that looks like he was assembled from discarded parts of smaller Japanese guys. He landed a couple of decent overhand rights and a few kicks. Jose Canseco got what he wanted, a nearly sold out arena cheering his name and a check for six figures in his pocket (and a smoking hot girlfriend). Dude is 45, give him a break. Actually, just give the entire MMA pursuit a rest. You got your payday, youre a friggin legend in the baseball world. Just be content on being Jose Canseco. Next step for Canseco, convince his girlfriend to get into MMA. Yes man.
