Cain Velasquez’s appeal for his bail has been denied.

It appears that former UFC champion Cain Velasquez will remain in prison until his court hearing. The longtime UFC fighter has been sitting in jail for eight months following his arrest for attempted murder after allegedly shooting a man while targeting another man back in February. Since his arrest, Velasquez’s legal team has been trying to push for release on bail but the plea keeps getting denied. They have tried again recently only for it to be denied once again.

Lawyers for Velasquez sent a  246-page request petition for a writ of habeas corpus basically asking them to appear before the court again to ask for bail. He has been denied bail now four times by The Sixth Appellate Court of California with the reasoning being the judge found Velasquez’s actions to be a “reckless disregard for human life” according to MMA Junkie.

Cain Velasquez will have to await his trial without bail

Velasquez and his family were willing to post a 1 Million dollar bond but their ask was not granted. His pre-trial hearing Nov. 7 in San Jose, CA. This date has been pushed back several times over the last few months. If he is found guilty on all counts he could be facing up to 20 years to life in prison.

Velasquez was arrested after chasing two men and shooting one man in his hometown. The man he was chasing is accused of reportedly molesting a member of Velasquez’s family. That man is also due to court in November and if he is found guilty will face up to eight years in prison. This man is out of bail, while Velasquez continues to be held in jail.
