Cain Velasquez will be starting his own podcast alongside American Kickboxing Academy coach Javier Mendez in the near future.

Mendez recently spoke with Kacper Rosolowski and Denis Shkuratov of Submission Radio on YouTube to discuss a multitude of things including Khabib Nurmagomedov’s sudden exit from coaching. Toward the end of the conversation, Mendez revealed that he will be joining the former UFC heavyweight champion for a new podcast that will focus on professional wrestling and mixed martial arts.

“I’m starting a podcast with Cain Velasquez. A wrestling and MMA discussion podcast. We don’t have the name yet, but we’re doing that. Just throwing it out there for marketing. I’m hoping it starts real soon. We need a name. I just need a lawyer to take care of a few things with the name and then we’re gonna start it. It’ll be big.”

Velasquez was released from jail in November after being in custody for eight months. Originally arrested on February 28, Velasquez is facing a litany of charges, the most severe being attempted murder. Velasquez was arrested after allegedly chasing down and shooting at a vehicle carrying three passengers, one of which was Harry Eugene Goularte. He is the man accused of molesting Velasquez’s child at a daycare center his mother operated.

After multiple denials, Velasquez was finally granted $1 million bail in early November. In December, he was granted a special request to compete at a Lucha Libre AAA event. Following his six-man tag team match, Velasquez addressed the crowd, delivering an emotional statement.

“To be here, in front of you guys, right now, it’s a dream come true,” Velasquez said. “I truly appreciate it all, what you guys have always done, supporting me, my family.”

“Never stop believing. Never stop fighting.”

Cain Velasquez is due back in court on March 8, 2023.
