If you take a look at the Cage Warriors FC schedule for 2012 you will see their expansion is spreading like a potent but not unwelcome virus. This year they plan to increase the T-cell count in Hungary, Jordan, Turkey, Ireland, UAE and Ukraine as well as holding shows in England but first up is CWFC Fight Night 3 in Beirut, Lebanon today at 2PM ET and 7PM GMT.
The opening bracket of the Middleweight tournament will see Victor Cheng (7-2) who fights out of Gladius MMA in Sweden take on Matt Gabel (7-2) from Fiore MMA in Illinois who has ended six of his seven wins inside the first round. We also get Gareth Joseph (9-4) taking on Frenchman Faycal Hucin (6-2), who has not lost since 2008. Joseph, despite being from Florida is likely to be a local favourite in Beirut as his father hails from Lebanon. TUF 6 finalist and professional farmer Tommy Speer will take on Swedish two-time FILA grappling champion Mats Nilsson but remember, Speer won by KO against George Sotoropolous on TUF so whether Nilsson’s grappling pedigree gives him an advantage remains to be seen. At the top of the card is a fun match up between Kyle Watson and Juha-Pekka Vainikainen.
