A middleweight contest between Joaquin Buckley and Abdul Razak Alhassan is taking place now (Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022) at UFC Vegas 48.
Round 1
Buckley with some early jabs. He misses a head kick. Alhassan misses with a body kick and blocks one from Buckley soon after. Alhassan blocks a head kick. Alhassan connects with a leg kick. Both fighters are swinging a lot more. Buckley times a takedown well and gets Alhassan down. Alhassan gets up and is clinched against the fence before separating. Buckley sees his kicks blocked again. Buckley gets Alhassan down with a power double. Alhassan gets to his feet and separates as they fight in the pocket. Both fighters are trading now as shots are connecting. Alhassan just misses with a huge overhand right. Buckley partially lands a spinning back kick. Alhassan defends a takedown attempt and lands some shots as the round ends.
Round 2
Buckley with a leg kick. Alhassan evades a head kick. Alhassan connects with a big leg kick. Buckley shoots again but Alhassan defends as he’s clinched against the fence. Alhassan is taken down multiple times but is back to his feet. Alhassan counters with a judo throw. They’re back to their feet and Buckley starts to unload on a shelled up Alhassan. Alhassan is not hurt though as Buckley attempts a spinning back kick again. Alhassan starts to unload but Buckley gets out of the way. Alhassan shells up again and Buckley unloads with punches and body shots. Alhassan might be a little gassed. However, he defends a takedown attempt as they clinch up. Buckley lands a knee to the belly while Alhassan responds with a counter uppercut. Buckley shoots and gets Alhassan down to end the second round.
Round 3
Buckley opens the round with a one two. It’s all Buckley so far as he is throwing a lot more volume here. Buckley clinches him up against the fence. Alhassan counters before he is back against the fence. Alhassan trips Buckley again and lands huge right hands. Buckley is able to escape and stand up. Alhassan clinches Buckley and takes him down. Alhassan postures up and lands some shots. Alhassan takes his back partially. Buckley gets to his feet but Alhassan gets his back again and takes him down. Alhassan lands some elbows from the top. It’s been all Alhassan now but he needs a finish. He starts to land some elbows and ground strikes. He ends the fight strong, but probably hasn’t done enough.
Official Result: Joaquin Buckley defeats Abdul Razak Alhassan via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).
