Brian Stann wants to bang against The Axe Murderer

Brian Stann earned the number one spot on our list of Top Ten List of Altruistic Individuals of 2010 for being a selfless role model over his respective military and MMA careers. He dedicated his UFC 125 victory to a friend & fallen soldier, making it impossible for you to dislike the guy, even if you’re Kim Winslow and you expected props for being the last woman to brush your hand on his body before he stepped into the cage. Last night, Kim Winslow hung out cageside at UFC 125 serving fighters with pre-fight pat-downs. Not sure if that’s what gave Brian Stann the power to knock a guy like Chris Leben out, but I’m assuming it played a key role in the victory. Kim Winslow looks like she could knit a mean scarf while polishing off a TV dinner. She looks like the kind of woman who could hustle a recreational bowling league out of at least a dozen rounds of Coors Light. I’ll even go as far as saying she’s the kind of woman who could easily persuade Roy Nelson to eat a plate of vegetables. By that thought-process, Brian Stann owes Kim Winslow a firm handshake and a TJ Maxx giftcard.

Rather than contemplating the ways he can offer Kim Winslow the recognition she deserves, Brian Stann had this to say at the post-fight presser:

“This is with the utmost respect. I’m fighting in the house that guys like Chris Leben built. I think I’d like to fight Wanderlei (Silva) next. He’s been a guy that I’ve watched for years before I ever put a glove on. He’s amazing. I want him.”

Summoning the Axe Murder to an MMA fight is a lot like beating Mortal Kombat on novice mode, then reaching Goro and wondering how to avoid getting your torso ripped off. Brian Stann must be aware at how much we all respect him, so by calling out Wanderlei Silva, he wants to show us he’s not just doing this for the publicity. A win over Wand would all but certainly put him on any top ten list of middleweights and right into UFC title contention, something Wanderlei doesn’t plan on giving away easily. Both fighters are hungry for the winner of Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort, while I’m just excited to see more of Kim Winslow’s bangs in 2011. [Source]
