Medical Suspensions: Brian Ortega Out For Six Months After A Grisly Loss At UFC 231

Brian Ortega Received A Lengthy Layoff

Undefeated Brian Ortega entered last Saturday’s showdown against UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway in a hope to win the title. However, things didn’t go as planned. Throughout the fight, Holloway landed an absurd amount of strikes. ‘Blessed’ hurled a total of 490 significant strikes at ‘T City. Most of those strikes landed exactly on Ortega’s face. By the end of the fourth round, Brian Ortega left with a broken nose, swollen left eye and thumb injury. The doctor stepped in and waved off the fight.

Despite absorbing an inhuman amount of punishment, Ortega stayed in the fight like a tough dude.

On Sunday evening, Ortega broke his silence on his stoppage loss and revealed multiple injuries. ‘T City’ was hospitalized following the conclusion of the fight.

Due to the severity of his injuries, Ortega should get a physician clearance or sit out for 180 days before return to Octagon, according to Ontario commission officials. (h/t MMAFighting)
