It appears Brian Ortega is dealing with “corrupt” cops in Mexico.

Ortega has apparently been spending some time in the country but has run into a bit of a dilemma. Footage has surfaced of the 145-pound contender having an issue with the cops over in Mexico.

Twitter user Anthony Romero posted a recent Instagram story from Brian Ortega. The UFC star was allegedly asked by cops to give them money but he refused, which led to his license being taken.

“Brian Ortega told these corrupt cops in Mexico that wanted his money to f*ck off, they took his license so now he won’t be able to leave. I hope the UFC can help him out somehow.”

Ortega was last seen inside the Octagon back in Sept. 2021. He challenged Alexander Volkanovski for the UFC Featherweight Championship. Ortega fell short, losing the fight via unanimous decision.

This was the second time Ortega failed to capture UFC gold. In his first attempt back in Dec. 2018, Ortega was stopped by Max Holloway via fourth-round TKO due to doctor’s stoppage.

Outside of the two UFC title fights, Ortega has a near-flawless record of 15-0, 1 NC. The one no-contest ruling was handed down after Ortega failed a drug test following his July 2014 bout against Mike De La Torre.
