Brendan Schaub Speaks On Cyborg’s Treatment By The UFC

It is no secret that Brendan Schaub has had vocal disdain for the UFC’s practices, since his departure with the company. Now, he is speaking out on their promotion of Cris Cyborg.

Cyborg just fought out her UFC contract at UFC 240, in a victory over Felica Spencer. Since then, it has been up for debate whether the UFC would re-sign the former Featherweight Champion. Additionally, there has been talk on whether or not they should continue working together.

Cyborg has had a stressful relationship with the UFC, and in particular Dana White. White has constantly badmouthed her, even after her fight on Saturday. This is something Brendan Schaub has picked up on, and decided to speak on, during his Below The Belt Podcast.

“A lot of this hate for her, despite her physical looks, her physical traits, would be because the narrative the UFC paints every time of her. Like Dana White goes, ‘she doesn’t want to fight Amanda Nunes,’ so then everyone jumps on that, Or he said she looks like Wanderlei Silva with braids, so Dana gives everybody the OK to sh*t on Cyborg.

She’s never been treated right her entire career. When she fought for Scott Coker, he highlighted her, treated her right, but outside that man it’s always been this kinda sad story. Especially her UFC career You gotta remember when she came to the UFC they went, ‘yeah come on over, but you gotta make 140.’ She’s like, ‘what the f*ck man?’ She’s just never had a good relationship. They’ve never kind of rallied around her. It’s heartbreaking.”

Brendan Schuab makes good points about the treatment of Cyborg. Do you think Cyborg will be continuing with the UFC? Or will she move on to another organization?
