Breaking: As Per Reports First Ever Russian UFC Card Has Been Booked

Khabib Nurmagomedov undefeated lightweight and his team have said that some big news is in the works.

The first-ever Russian UFC card is set to happen as early as September, and the event has already been booked in one of the biggest arenas in Moscow reported by RT Sport.

The UFC promotion has yet to announce the news, but the possibility of a show in Russia was first proposed by the UFC president, Dana White, at a press conference following the UFC 205 event at Madison Square Garden, New York, back in November of 2016.

Everyone is speculated whether that would be an interim title fight against Tony Ferguson, or if Khabib Nurmagomedov would just skip straight to an undisputed title fight with Conor McGregor.

“Most likely, this event is going to be connected with us. [Khabib Nurmagomedov] will fight in April first with Tony Ferguson, and then we will receive a date for a fight with [Conor] McGregor. Although I can’t exclude the possibility they will make us wait for Ferguson until September, and there won’t be an April fight.”

“We have many good fighters who can fill the arena — Alexander Volkov, Gadzhimurad Antigulov, Mairbek Taisumov. Fans love Zabit Magomedsharipov now. Rustam Khabilov and Islam Makhachev can also join. Many [fighters] will want to perform both in the UFC and at home at the same time. Plus it’s very interesting for [Russian] fans.” — Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov father of Khabib Nurmagomedov, speaking to RT Sport.

Khabib recently made a dominant comeback to the UFC octagon after a one-year of hiatus, defeating one of the top lightweight candidate, Edson Barboza, via unanimous decision at UFC 219.

If the UFC promotion secured a venue that large, needless to say, they have something huge in mind that will bring the Russian fans out in droves.

Nurmagomedov seems to have only two fight options ahead of him: interim champion Tony Ferguson, and McGregor, who hasn’t defended his belt since winning at UFC 205, where he finished Eddie Alvarez via technical knockout.

However, it’s not clear if Khabib Nurmagomedov will take part in the planned Moscow event, Dagestan native hinted at “big news” to come on his Instagram page two days ago.

Even Mcgregor’s coach John Kavanagh did seem to hint at something yesterday.

If a Nurmagomedov fight in Moscow will come to fruition, but Russian fight fans are certainly eager to see the world’s largest MMA promotion in the country’s capital, with a super fight against McGregor surely top of most people’s list.

Recently Ali Abdelaziz, told MMA Fighting  they are not interested in fighting for Tony Ferguson’s interim title, a ‘fake’ belt that no one wants:

“Khabib’s next fight, we’re not fighting for no damn interim belt,” Abdelaziz said. “We want the real belt, or we don’t want nothing. We appreciate everything the UFC has done for us, but it’s time for a real belt. Nobody is interested in fighting for a fake belt. Tony Ferguson has a fake belt. Nobody wants this.”

We have to wait for UFC promotion to announce the official news, till then sit back and wait.

It seems like it could be Mcgregor vs Nurmagomedov, are you excited if this match-up materialize?
